Eagle Scout Project

The Pflugerville Downtown Association is a nonprofit association that is composed of members from local Pflugerville businesses. They are dedicated to improving the downtown area and making Pflugerville a better place to call home. They run an annual chili festival in downtown Pflugerville and needed ticket booths to sell tickets for the chili and other merchandise. I was asked to design and build two booths that were portable, easy to assemble, durable, and patriotic.

Design

The design was to have four separate sections that could be attached by zip ties to form a booth. If they needed it, a tarp could be added for a roof. The wood to make the booths was treated lumber and plywood.

In the original plans, the shelves would be permanently attached to the booth, but upon further thought, my advisors and I decided that it would be better to change the shelf design. The image on the right is the new version of the shelf. This was beneficial in terms of storage and durability.

Workday
Conclusion of Project

Once the paint dried and the final touches were put on the booths, two members from the Pflugerville Downtown Association came to pick them up. They were first used and are still being used at the Chili Pfest (pictured at top of page).

The day of the project, after the beforehand preparation was done, 24 total people came to help construct the booths. I was the only person in charge and I delegated to them what needed to be completed while I supervised all the work happening to ensure it was all done correctly.

A total of 122 hours went into the design, planning, and construction of the ticket booths. Due to scheduling, few scouts could attend to help with the project, but thanks to other members of the community there was plenty of help. The project was completed on time and under budget.

Complete Eagle Scout Workbook

A large component of the Eagle Scout Project is to have a detailed plan of the project with the idea that anyone can look at the PDF of my workbook and replicate the work I did. This workbook has all design plans, financial details, worksite information, and a reflection on how the project went.
